Morusu – born Morusu Khethang HLALELE, on the 13th November 1984

Morusu is born and bred from Lesotho, Quthing District.

What does he do?

Famo (traditional Sesotho) is what he calls his music, which

Focuses on his personal experiences and uplift those who are down and are looking for an entertaining music. Morusu does music for living and hence focus on promoting his music.

What are his achievements?

Morusu launched his debut album “Quthing ho ea Seaka no.1” on the 20 September 2007. His second album “Quthing ho ea Seaka no.2 was launched in April 2008. He later started working with Mosotho Chakela, a legend in his own right when it comes to Famo Music. Morusu later released his third Album in 2008 entitled “Morusu” under the leadership of Mosotho Chakela. The album became so successful that it won South African Traditional Music Award in the gategory of the “Best Sesotho Album” 2009. His famous track entitled “Ha e tlale” became so famous that it was featured in all Sesotho programmes in all Sesotho radio stations both in Lesotho and South Africa.

He was also a nominee for SATMA 2010 with his album entitled Morusu no.2, featuring popular tracks such as “Mafura thekeng” and “Mopheha Khang ke mang”.

Morusu no.2 is also nomimated for South African Music Awards for 2011 (SAMA 17) for Best Sotho Album.

Morusu has perfomed at different places including Lesotho, South Africa and Botswana. Morusu is also regularly featured on SABC 2 on a programme called Roots (a traditional music programme) where he showcased his music. He is also regularly featured on Lesedi FM where he is interviewed and regularly required to advise youths on musical issues. He is featured on programmes such as “Rea kubeletsa” – by Ba2cada and “litsamaea naha” by Twasa.

LEKHOTLALAMARUMO  is a music production that publish  new Traditional artists falling under K.O.L MUSIC PRODUCTIONS .  KOL Music Productions is a music Production Company with its origins from Lesotho but strategically registered in South Africa. The company’s head office is based in Kempton Park, South Africa. The location of this head office adds a competitive advantage and enables the Lesotho Musicians to be on par with other South African musicians and hence their full potential and aspirations are easily realized with relatively less effort. 

LEKHOTLALAMARUMO & KOL Music Productions were established in August 2007 as a resource to promote capacity building and advisory work in the Lesotho Music Industry, with a key focus on youth.

The vision of KOL Music Productions is to provide Youth and Basotho Musicians with a platform and opportunity to influence Basotho culture through music and art, add value and put talent to good use.

The Welfare of Basotho Youth in the music industry are at the top of KOL Productions agenda. This passion is well illustrated in the composition of the company’s shareholding and ownership, of which 75% is owned by youths from Lesotho. Rets’elisitsoe Molefe (known as Dunamis), Chane Mofolo, Paul Mokotjo & Lehohla Lehana are directors of KOL Productions with 75% ownership & Molifi Mabote owns 100% of Lekhotlalamarumo music productions and also a Management Director of K.O.L Music productions

This is the empowerment deal that has made our Music Productions unique from other Music Productions companies as it is fully owned by the musicians themselves.
